You can start borrowing by clicking "Sign up" on our website, or going directly to the page of the Thing you want to borrow and clicking "Check Availability".
Know what you want to borrow? Sign up while making a reservation
If you've had a browse of our Thing catalogue and set your sights on the Thing you'd like to borrow, simply head to the Thing's page and press the purple "Make a reservation" button.
Choose your local Library of Things and you'll see a calendar showing the current availability of the Thing at that location.
Click to choose your collection date first, and then click again to choose your return date. Click twice on the same date to collect and return on the same day.
The dates you've chosen will appear in green on the calendar.
Light grey dates mean the Thing is either already reserved or the location is closed that day.
You can borrow over closed days at a discount, but if the calendar won't let you choose a particular return date, it's likely that the Thing is already reserved for that day. Please try a different date or choose a same-day return by clicking twice on the same date.
Sign-up details will be tacked on to the process after you've chosen your dates, added your Thing(s) to the basket and clicked "Complete Reservation".
We'll just ask for your name, email and postcode. You'll also be asked to create a password, which you'll need every time you log in to make a reservation. Simples!

Too expensive? Check out our concession membership
At Library of Things, we're dedicated to making borrowing more affordable than buying. We've calculated our prices to be as low as possible while covering our costs - as a social enterprise, we're not operating for profit.
If our prices are too expensive, you can sign up for our concession membership quickly and easily - we don't ask for any "proof". You can also change your current membership to a concession one.
The concession membership may be helpful for borrowers who are unwaged or low income, receiving governmental support or a pension, students, or simply worried about other bills to pay.
Simply visit this page on our website to become a concession member, or click the concession link on our Thing pages.
