Can I donate items to Library of Things?

Unfortunately, we don't currently accept donations. You can read more about why that is below!

Why don't we accept donations?

There are a few factors we've learnt since starting Library of Things which make it unfeasible for us to accept donations:

• Donated Things don’t come with warranties - meaning once they’re broken beyond simple repairs, they’re broken for good.

• Donated Things often only last a few borrows before breaking. This is a problem not only for us, creating a backlog of bookings, but imagine how frustrating it is for the person it breaks on!

• We’re trying to help everyone to borrow rather than buy, and for many people that’s only attractive if the Things are in a great condition.

What can you do with things you want to give a second life?

We recommend getting in touch with our friends at Tools With A Mission, a charity with a national network of over 200 volunteer tool collectors.

Otherwise, you can also try one of these places:

• Emmaus on Knights Hill
• Freecycle
• Freegle
• Nextdoor
• Gumtree
